One of the challenges for the small groups during 40 Days of Community held in 2004 was to engage in a form of outreach to the community. During Celebration Sunday at the end of the 40 day campaign, the small groups shared their stories with the rest of the congregation. One of the groups baked cakes and provided dessert for the homeless ministry at St. Matthias church. Another group is holding a monthly meeting for teenage girls and is helping them spiritually deal with all the challenges they face in today’s world. The men’s group teamed up with the NY School of Urban Ministry and ministered to some homeless people in Queens and Manhattan by providing them with food, clothing, blankets and toiletries, while also praying for them and sharing the gospel of Jesus’ love with them. Another group is planning a Princess Day during which they will minister to the women of our church and the community.
